Hong Kong: Mortgage bad debt increases
Mortgage bad debt increased marginally during January 2003 but rescheduled loans remained static, according to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority today.
New loans approved fell as against December by more than 14% and the total mortgage debt outstanding is more or less unchanged at HKD533.8 milliard.
Of special interest are the figures relating to loans for purchase in mainland China: in January total gross loans were HKD122 milliard and outstanding loans totalled HKD6.3 billion.
