Hong Kong: Training Securities Commission Staff
The Securities and Futures Commission has sent one of its managers on a cross-training course. It looks like a very good idea.
At the passing out parade of the latest batch of Anti Corruption Agency recruits from their 17 week induction course, there was one who will not work alongside former classmates. The Securities and Futures Commission arranged for an un-named manager to attend the course and now holds a certificate of completion.
The cross-training of regulatory staff is seen as a move towards greater protection of the markets.
Participants on the course are introduced to anti-corruption laws, investigation procedures, interviewing technique, procedures in arrest and search, handling of exhibits, and computer crimes and related offence.
The course took in visits to neighbouring jurisdictions: course participants visited the Zhuhai Municipal People's Procuratorate, the Zhuhai People's Court, the Macau Commission Against Corruption, the Macau Public Prosecutions Office, and the Macau Judicial Police.
