AML / CFT: manc harged with bribery in murder case
A Hong Kong man, KWAN Kwok Leung, 31, has been charged with a bribery offence. It is alleged that he tried to get money from the father of two men accused of murder in order to pass to him details of the investigation.
It is alleged that KWAN conspired with a police officer, now retired, and a legal executive of a solicitors' firm to demand HKD13,000 from the father of the two suspects in a case involving a murder in 2006. The policeman was involved in the murder investigation. The alleged attempt to solicit the bribe was between 1 May and 8 September 2007 when the investigation was active.
KWAN is a van driver and has been remanded to the District Court where he will enter a plea.
