wmlro.com: Dalton case will test Cuellar result
26 year old James Clark Dalton was arrested driving a recent Toyota Avalon saloon car - not the likely car of choice for a young man with greasy hair and a struggling beard and moustache. A sniffer dog identified suspicion of drugs and in the boot of the car, officers found just under USD24,000 in US dollar notes and what is described as "drugs paraphernalia." That's where it all starts to get interesting.
The Toyota was rented. The money was seized and Dalton has been charged with money laundering. The car was returned to the hire company.
Dalton, pictured above in the back of a police car, faces charges of money laundering.
The case bears similarities, at least on the face of it, to that of Huberto Cuellar which so upended laws on search and seizure that an amendment is proceeding through the US legislature to try to fix the mess.
