wmlro.com: Jersey jails Raj Bhojwani, Abacha associate
Jersey's Royal Court has jailed Raj Bhojwani an associate of former Nigerian president Sani Abacha for six years as a result of his laundering of moneys related to Abacha despite the apparent intervention of Indian politicians.
Bhojwani had claimed that the charges were racially motivated (see previous story) but the Court was not moved on those suggestions.
It was found that Bhojwani put approx USD184 million into the Jersey branch of Bank of India as part of a complex series of transactions relating to the sale of TATA military vehicles.
Bhojwani was convicted in March but sentenced last Friday.
