Banking: HKMA grants licence to BSI Ltd
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to BSI Ltd (BSI) under the Banking Ordinance. The licence takes effect from 7 December 2011.
BSI is incorporated in Switzerland. According to the July 2011 issue of The Banker, BSI is the 9th largest bank in Switzerland in terms of Tier-1 capital.
After the granting of a banking licence to BSI, the number of licensed banks in Hong Kong has increased to 152.
