Payment systems: now you can pay by phone for your car parking
Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Georgia has introduced a "pay by phone" service in its car parks.
The system, built by Parkmobile USA, Inc, has to be set up in advance by registering with Parkmobile. Once the account is set up, users pre-pay for time at their chosen car park, with an option to have an sms delivered 15 minutes before their time expires. Or, for hourly charges, one call starts the charging period, another ends it.
Users pay USD0.35 service charge in addition to the standard parking charges - but the call to set up the charge is free.
