Banking: Former HSBC HK VP charged with accepting bribe
Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has brought charges against a former senior officer of HSBC in Hong Kong.
The charges alleges that Chen Ching-Hsiao, 46, accepted a bribe of USD60,000 for approving applications for credit facilities from a client of the bank.
The charge alleges that in June 2007, the defendant accepted the money from a Taiwanese client as rewards for recommending or approving the applications of two companies for credit facilities from HSBC.
He is due to make his first appearance in court tomorrow.
