Banking: Fraudster's reach for the Sky

When you send your computer for repair, what are the technicians up to? An investigation by UK TV station Sky found that one was busy looking for private data.

It's incredible how many people send their computers off for repair but don't take the hard disk out. So Sky News decided to see what would happen and they set up a laptop so that its built in camera and other software monitored what the techies were up to.

One, Grzegorz Zachodni, 30, has just been convicted on the evidence provided by Sky.

Zachodni found a directory called "private." In it he ogled photos of the "owner" of the laptop in revealing swimwear.

Then he found a file called "passwords" and used that to try to gain access to an internet bank account - making half a dozen attempts. He also tried to access accounts at Facebook and eBay.

Zachodnihas been sentenced to jail for nine months.
