Indonesia: good and bad news as trial starts

Four former deputy governors of Indonesia's central bank are now on trial on charges of embezzlement and corruption.

The charges all relate to circumstances in 2003 when money was made available to the bank for specific purposes including addressing a liquidity crisis but, prosecutors say, was diverted by these defendants and others.

Last year, a former Governor was jailed for his involvement.

The money, prosecutors say, was to make pay-offs to try to get other people off corruption charges.

Around GBP6.5 million is involved.
