Insurance: Allstate sues doctor and his corporations
Allstate Insurance Company and Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Company today announced that they have issued proceedings against Michigan doctor and companies under his control alleging "unjust enrichment, fraud and misrepresentation."
The action, issued in Oakland County, Mich., against Pramod Kerkar, M.D., Pain Clinic of Michigan, P.C. in Sterling Heights, Mich., and Rochester Hills, Mich., (doing business as Pain Clinic of Michigan), Pain Clinic of Michigan Associates, P.C., in Sterling Heights and Maple Millennium Medical Center (sic) in Rochester Hills (also known as The Maple Medical Clinic) alleges " that Dr. Kerkar, through his corporations, has billed Allstate for services that were not rendered, fabricated medical diagnosis to justify surgical procedures and improperly performed procedures to the detriment of the patients.
The complaint is requesting in excess of USD1 million. Allstate Insurance Company also will be seeking reimbursement for damages in excess of USD1 million.
