AML / CFT / Sanctions: Osama may be dead but his assets are still frozen
Regardless of the means of his demise, Osama bin Laden is dead. But as a central figure in both the planning and the financing of terrorism for many years, any question of his assets being released is, well, out of the question.
The United Nations is not even discussing the issue: Osama bin Laden, deceased, remains on the 1267 Taliban / al Qaeda asset freeze list.
Therefore all transactions involving his estate or related assets are blocked and any attempts must be reported in accordance with local law.
