wmlro.com: HAMAS gets frozen money back - claim

Reports in Israeli news media are quoting an official at the Palestine Islamic Bank as saying that HAMAS has developed a technique for getting back money frozen as a result of the financial embargo in the group.

It is claimed that armed HAMAS militia went to the bank yesterday, Sunday, and, at gunpoint, forced the payment to them of 16,000 Jordanian dollars

The money, it is said, was frozen under sanctions laws banks must report and freeze any inter-bank transactions suspected of relating to HAMAS.

It is reported that the money may have been held in the name of a charity linked to HAMAS.

It is not the first time such reports have appeared: three months ago, it is said, HAMAS forcibly took USD400,000 from Bank of Palestine which had frozen funds and closed the account of a medical related charity after it was alleged that control of it had passed to HAMAS.
