Commodities: Bunge jumps into hot water with CFTC

The USA's Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has simultaneously filed and settled a claim against Bunge Global Markets, Inc. over action that caused "non-bona fide prices" to be reported in relation to soya bean futures. Does that simply mean "false?"

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today filed and simultaneously settled a claim that Hernando Chovil of McLean, Virginia, USA., committed fraud in connection with operating a commodity pool - in a case that demonstrates that there is no de minimis figure below which regulators will not dip when pursuing a case.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) obtained a federal court order imposing more than USD46.9 million in restitution and civil monetary penalties on Robert D. Bame of Moreno Valley, Calif., and his firm, Forward Investment Group, LLC (Forward) of Santa Monica, Calif. The order requires the defendants to pay restitution of USD16,038,568.68 and a USD30,887,006 civil monetary penalty for commodity pool fraud.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has filed a civil complaint against defendants Ryan A. Nassbridges of Laguna Niguel, Calif., and American Bullion Exchange ABEX, Corp. (ABEX Corp) and American Bullion Exchange, LLC (ABEX LLC), both of Irvine, Calif., alleging "fraudulent solicitation" and misappropriation in connection with a precious metals futures and options fraud.
