FATF to consult on proposed changes to R40 +9

The Financial Crime Forum is to host a series of meetings for compliance officers and others to discuss the FATF's proposals for modifications to the 40 Recommendations plus 9.

The FATF (www.fatf-gafi.org) has announced its intention to seek public comment on its proposals.

Some areas of change have already been telegraphed: changes in the way corruption is handled, a new approach for Trust and Company Service Providers, voluntary tax compliance schemes and more.

The Financial Crime Forum (www.financialcrimeforum.com) will host a series of meetings for Compliance Officers, Directors of financial and other affected institutions and other interested parties.

Details of the meetings will be posted at the Financial Crime Forum website within the next few days.

The consultation period closes on 7 January 2011. Therefore the meetings will be held at short notice.

Discussions will be moderated and will focus on proposed changes and also consider areas of improvement which the FATF has not added to its proposals.
