The UK Treasury has modified information on several persons listed under UN1267. Amendments dated 20 July 2009.

On 20 July, OFAC added the names of four Mexicans that it says are leaders in the production and trafficking of illegal narcotics.

Sanctions: US removes North Korea targets from OFAC list

22. June 2009

OFAC has made the following changes to its SDN list in accordance with a final rule published in the Federal Register that amends Appendix A to 31 C.F.R. chapter V to reflect the removal of North Korea as a sanctions program under which entities may be blocked. As noted in the final rule, all property and interests in property of North Korea or a North Korea national that were blocked as of June 16, 2000, and remained blocked immediately prior to June 26, 2008, nevertheless remains blocked pursuant to Executive Order 13466.

Sanctions: UN Security Coucil adopts Resolution 1874 (2009) on DPRK

UN Statement: "The Secretary-General welcomes the adoption of resolution 1874 (2009) on the recent nuclear test by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

"Acting unanimously and agreeing on credible measures, the members of the Security Council have sent today a clear and strong message to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The Secretary-General hopes that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and all other Member States will fully comply with the measures contained in the resolution."
