Phishing Alert: Maybank, Malaysia
A phishing attack has been commenced against customers of Malaysia's Maybank.
The fraud, running the same line as several previous similar frauds (i.e. "For security reasons, your Maybank2u account has been blocked due to inactivity or because of too many failed login attempts" contains a link to a top level URL.
In recent months, such frauds have been linked via a page inserted on an innocent but insecure website. It is unusual for the landing page to be in the root of a domain.
The message has faked headers.
But the coding for the message bears indicators that it originates from a Russian speaker, whereabouts unknown.
