FI frauds: HKMA identifies Chinese character domain name as fraudulent
The use of Chinese characters in domain names is not yet widespread and so it is something of a rarity to find a fraudulent website using Chinese characters in its name. But the Hong Kong Monetary Authority has done just that.
A fraudulent website with the domain name "www.????.biz" has been identified by the HKMS which says that the website looks similar to the official website of Wing Lung Bank Limited (Wing Lung Bank).
Wing Lung Bank has clarified that it has no connection with the fraudulent website.
Wing Lung Bank has reported the case to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation.
