========================

The e-mail contains many of the hallmarks of a typical financial scam originating out of West Africa.

The scam is not new but it has been reactivated. "Alp Trust Bank" used to have a website: http://www.at-bonline.com, but it has been dead and in the domain in the hands of an ad-farm for some time. Only one page has been indexed at archive.org and that page is blank. The domain was created on 6 August 2008.

In previous issues of this scam, the domain alptrustbankonline.com was used: that address is currently unregistered.

Research shows that previous scams have claimed that Alp Trust Bank is based in "Bermingham" (this is a spelling mistake) UK and provided a non-geographical telephone number. No such name is authorised by the UK's FSA.

The spam is being distributed by e-mail and by posting to bulletin boards including support boards for software.
